I think that sometime in 1990s, there must have been an outbreak of  wine glass misappropriations, thus  the explosion of wine glass charms at every housewares store in the country. Since then we have been overrun by  the repurposed  silver or gold loop wine glass charm with colored bead. These charms soon lost their charm as far as I am concerned.

And still, wine glass charms are a necessity for those who entertain.

And sometimes, we get lucky and find a unique and interesting twist on the pervasive beaded loop.
